Unique technology for efficient power generation at low temperatures

SRM Powerbox is a modular power unit that converts waste and geothermal heat to electricity from temperatures as low as 55 °C. The output is emission-free power and profit. The unique SRM Powerbox technology makes it is economically viable to generate electricity from waste and geothermal heat sources at low temperatures. Applications include marine & gen-sets, renewable power stations and industry plants like pulp & paper, cement and steel.

Working conditions
  • Hot water/oil: temperature range 55 – 160 °C
  • Steam: wet, saturated or dry steam ≤ 35 bar (a)
Proven in service

The quality of SRM Powerbox is proven in many successful installations.

SRM Powerbox is enabling its end-users to meet their environmental and energy efficiency commitments, while improving system performance and profitability at the same time.

SRM Powerbox makes a great contribution in energy saving and is a key factor for future safety and protection of our environment.

Continuous development
Our development and improvement work is an endless process, where new and more efficient solutions are launched continuously.

In parallel, new and more environmentally friendly refrigerants are entering the market, opening for new designs with an optimized performance.

Hence, the design of SRM Powerbox is always state-of-the art, incorporating the latest ideas and features.

SRM Core technology – our expander

The decisive factor for SRM Powerbox is our unique oil-free SRM expander which is used both in our ORC and WST.

Advantages with SRM Powerbox ORC & WST
  • Able to generate electricity from 55 °C liquid to 35 bar (a) steam.
  • Wet or saturated steam can be fed directly into our SRM Powerbox without any risk of damaging the turbine.
  • Wide application range from 150 to 2 400 kWe.
  • Proven technology – more than 20 MWe installed in 6 countries and on ships.
  • Unique low CAPEX/kWe cost through industrialization and low-cost manufacturing.

High operational reliability through computer controls and remote operation

Orders & Installations - SRM Powerbox ORC & WST
SRM Powerbox is a proven technology with more than 20 MWe installed in 5 countries and on ships.

The first unit was installed already 2008 at a CHP plant in Sweden. The temperature of the heat source was only 65 °C.

Since then, more than 35 units have been installed in various industries, e.g. in Marine vessels, Pulp and paper, Steel/Iron factories, Geothermal, Incineration plant, Chemical Industry, Tyre factory , Biomass CHP.

The heat sources vary from hot water, 65-150 °C, to steam, 2-26 bar(a). The cooling sources include river water, district heating network, cooling tower etc.

The net output varies from 250 – 1600 kWe.

ORC

SRM Powerbox ORC

An SRM Powerbox ORC is a power unit that converts electricity from waste or geothermal heat according to the Organic Rankine Cycle principle (ORC).
WST

SRM Powerbox WST

An SRM Powerbox WST (Wet Steam Turbine) is a power unit that produces electricity from wet, saturated or dry steam.
